TRIPLE 'H'
Paul Levesque was born on
7/27/69 in New Hampshire. At the age of 14,
Triple H got involved in bodybuilding. He was
informed of Killer Kowalski’s school by his work
out partner, Ted Arcidi. Ted had a brief
wrestling career and was at one time the bench
press record holder. He was trained by Killer
Kowalski and made his pro debut in 1992. He is
currently married to Stephanie McMahon and is
the son-in-law of Vince McMahon.
WCW:
Triple H started his career as Terra Ryzing.
After a brief run in the indies, he made it to
WCW. He did not wrestle much on TV and was only
on 1 PPV match under his new gimmick, Jean Paul
LeVesque. He signed with the WWF in spite of
having to work more dates for less money.
Hunter Hearst Helmsley:
In April 1995, he made his WWF debut as
Hunter Hearst Helmsley. His gimmick was being a
rich snob from Connecticut. He quickly developed
a friendship with The Clique. He was part of the
infamous MSG curtain call with Shawn Michaels,
Kevin Nash and Scott Hall. All the heat from the
incident fell on him and he was punished by not
winning the 1996 King of the Ring. In his place,
Steve Austin won the tournament and made his
infamous Austin 3:16 speech that night.
The Punishment is Over:
By the end of 1996, Triple H was I-C
champion. In 1997, he formed D-X with Shawn
Michaels and his eventual girlfriend Chyna.
After Shawn retired, he became leader of the
group which now included Billy Gunn, The Road
Dogg, and X-Pac. The group was known for their
juvenile actions. Triple H suffered a knee
injury in 1998 and when he returned, he left the
group and joined The Corportaion
The McMahon-Helmsley
Era:
On 8/3/99, Triple H became world champion.
His first feud was with Vince McMahon and in a
surprise move he married Stephanie McMahon
(storyline). Their group ran roughshod over the
WWF for several months. In 2001, he formed the
two man power trip with Steve Austin. During a
tag team match, he suffered a torn quad. Despite
the pain, he continued the match. He was out for
nine months.
The Triumphant Return:
He returned to the ring at The Royal Rumble
and won the WWF title from Chris Jericho at
WrestleMania 18. A few months later, the brand
split occurred and he was crowned the first
World Heavyweight Champion of RAW. On October
25, 2003, he married Stephanie McMahon in real
life.
Evolution:
In January 2003, Triple H led a new group
called Evolution. It also consisted of Ric
Flair, Batista, and Randy Orton. The group
controlled RAW for almost two years before
Triple H had turned on all its members one by
one. In 2004, he wrote a fitness book called
Making the Game. There is no doubt that Triple H
will continue to be a major star for the
foreseeable future.
