-
Use fat-free vegetable
broth instead of regular chicken or beef
broth.
Freeze the broth in ice cube trays and
whenever you need to add moisture to a dish,
add a cube of broth instead of extra oil.
-
Remove skin and fat
from all meats before cooking and use a
marinade to keep meat tender.
-
Replace half the fat
with pureed fruit in your favorite baking
recipes.
Applesauce or fresh mango puree are good
examples.
One-quarter cup of puree can also be
substituted for one egg.
-
Use your charcoal
grill year-round. A cast iron grill pan is
also a good choice. Grilling is fast, easy
and low-fat. Smoking provides fat-free
seasoning as well!
-
Use high quality
ingredients like extra virgin olive oils,
good vinegars, superior cheeses. You will
use less but get more flavor.
-
Use chopped fresh
herbs freely. You will need less salt which
means less bloating!
-
Garnish almost any
dish with fruit or vegetable salsa for an
intense burst of fat-free flavor.
-
Skip the cream, milk
and butter in pureed soups. To get the
creamy consistency without the fat, blend in
1 large boiled potato. The starch in the
potato will give a richer consistency and
won't affect the flavor of the final dish.
