Varicose veins are
the condition of having abnormally dilated or
swollen veins in the legs.
Women
are prone to the development of this condition.
Varicose veins are developed by several factors;
among some are heredity, pregnancy and age.
Regardless of different cause, you can still
avoid this condition and enjoy fuller and
healthier legs with these simple tips:
1. Always be
in good posture, when standing; stand up
straight with your relaxing legs.
2. Maintain a normal body weight,
avoid malfunction of the circulatory system that
would cause pressure of the leg vein.
3. When sitting; feet should be down on
the ground, avoiding crossing your legs to
decrease leg vein pressure.
4. Have a regular exercise such as
walking, jogging, cycling and swimming.
5. Avoid standing in a long period
of time. If your job requires you to do so,
always use support hose stockings that could
help blood pump more efficiently back to the
heart.
6. If you’re sitting for a long
period, stretch your legs rotate your ankles and
reflex your toes while sitting down.
7. Always wear clothes that would
not constrain your legs, waist and groin.
8. Avoid too high-heels especially
when your job requires you to stand for over
long period of time.
9. For strenuous activity that
involves your legs and feet, avoid washing with
water immediately, allow your legs to rest for a
few minutes.
10. When lying down for rest,
elevate your legs 6- 12 inches by using pillows
or any means to allow the blood in the lower
legs to flow back into the heart.
